Kindergarten & 1st Grade (age: 5-7 years)

Children aged five to six are in a vibrant stage of growth, ready to expand their skills, independence, and curiosity. At this age, they naturally show:

  • A love for exploring and asking big questions
  • Eagerness to take on real challenges
  • Pride in their growing independence
  • Joy in hands-on, purposeful activities
  • Desire to connect ideas and understand the “why” behind things
  • Increasing focus and self-discipline
  • Excitement to share discoveries with others

In our specially “prepared environment” based on Montessori principles, these qualities flourish through engaging activities in:

Practical Life

Kindergarteners take pride in doing things for themselves. Activities such as dressing up, preparing snacks, caring for plants, and completing multi-step tasks, help to refine coordination, build focus, and develop independence. These are essential skills that help them work with care and confidence in life.

Sensory Education

Five and six-year-olds are naturally curious about the world’s details. By exploring Montessori sensory materials that highlight size, shape, texture, weight, and sound, children sharpen observation skills, think critically, and prepare for more abstract learning in math, science, and language.

Language

With rapidly increasing vocabulary, children at this age are eager to read, write, and express their ideas. We give ample opportunities for improving language skills through comprehension passages, storytelling, phonetic games, poetry, and hands-on language tools. All these strategies help to build literacy skills and confident self-expression.

Math

Our Kindergarten students are equipped to discover math through engaging and hands-on Montessori  material. They explore numbers, patterns, and basic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They also learn to develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Cultural Education

At Telfair Montessori, we focus on nurturing the all-round development of each child’s personality. Our Integrated Cultural Curriculum includes music, art, language, and physical education. Children get ample opportunities for a strong foundation of learning  by enriching hands-on experiences in earth sciences, physical sciences, life sciences, history, and celestial sciences.
